Leave a bequest

A gift beyond a lifetime

After your family and friends are properly looked after in your Will, consider leaving a gift to Spinnaker. As with all financial transactions, we suggest you seek independent legal advice from a recognised estate planner / solicitor and get your Will properly drafted, dated, signed and witnessed to ensure it is valid.

Should you require a solicitor / lawyer to assist you with preparing your Will, we can recommend a number of lawyers who are willing to draft a simple Will for you at a concessional fee rate if you consider the Spinnaker Health Research Foundation a worthy beneficiary.

Think about the type of bequest you would like to make and the necessary wording to include in your Will.

You may choose from following options:

Residual bequest:

The remainder /residual of your estate after all debts, charges and specific gifts have been deducted. (A residual bequest maintains its relative value and automatically adjusts the value of your estate).

Percentage of residual bequest:

A percentage of the remainder / residue of your estate after all debts, charges and specific gifts have been deducted.

Pecuniary bequest:

A fixed dollar amount.

Specific bequest:

Specified assets such as real estate, jewellery, art work, cars, shares or proceeds from a life insurance or superannuation policy nominated directly with the Fund. Note the Foundation reserves the right to sell the gifted assets it receives to convert their value to the tangible currency required to advance research.
